About the project

In 2009, with the funding support by Temasek Foundation (TF), ITEES conducted a Leadership Training Programme (LTP) for OVEC, with the aim of strengthening the system of administration and management, training and delivery of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Thailand towards alignment with industry needs through better leadership. Overall, a total of 80 leaders attended the 9-day programme in Singapore and shared the experience with another 456 leaders who did not attend the programme. The programme was officially completed in Nov 2013.

Upon completion of the LTP, OVEC requested for further collaboration with ITEES in the area of Curriculum Design, Development and Assessment. Similar to the first project, the second project was also funded by TF (approved in 2012). In total, 100 Master Trainers have been trained in Thailand and Singapore under this capability development project across 4 runs. These Master Trainers had also transferred the knowledge to another 412 TVET trainers back in Thailand through the Multiplier Training (MT) sessions. The programme completed in Sep 2014.

With the successful closure of the above projects, ITEES and OVEC embarked on the third collaboration funded by TF (approved in 2015), in the area of pedagogy training. This project trained a total of 90 Master Trainers over 3 runs and the Master Trainers are required to cascade their knowledge to another 360 TVET trainers upon completion of the training by ITEES. The last activity under this project is the MT session scheduled in Aug 2017.

The successful implementation of the third collaboration prompted ITEES and Temasek Foundation International (TFI)[1] to work with OVEC on a 4th project (approved in 2017) focusing on design thinking and entrepreneurship skills. This project aims to train a total of 20 leaders and 60 Master Trainers over 4 runs. In turn, the Leaders and Master Trainers are required to cascade their knowledge to another 60 TVET leaders and 180 trainers upon completion of the training by ITEES. The project is scheduled to be completed in Nov 2020.

In addition, OVEC had also engaged ITEES directly for the conduct of a 3-day TVET Management Workshop in Aug 2015 at Phang Nga Technical College, Thailand for a class of 40 participants. The objective of the workshop was to enhance the leadership and management skills of the academic staff and vocational teachers in managing vocational institutions under OVEC.
